Mercy includes more than 40 acute care and specialty (heart, children's, orthopedic and rehab) hospitals, 800 physician practices and outpatient facilities, 44,000 co-workers and 2,100 Mercy Clinic physicians in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
This position is designed to facilitate an effective process of the new care model; supporting quality patient care, safety and financial components; promoting integration of a seamless care model; collaborating to include coordination as evidenced by metrics, optimizing performance and adoption of best practices. The Appeal Management Nurse will provide guidance, coaching, staff development and problem solving for Mercy's clinical improvement and compliance initiatives.

Because you're committed to excellence, you understand the importance of being properly prepared for your role at Mercy. That's why you'll bring to your role the right set of qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Current license in the state of employment required
  • 2-3 years acute care hospital setting required
  • BLS required
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Proven project management experience with ability to collaborate with others
  • Must have the ability to work independently and meet deadlines with attention to detail
  • Excellent time management, organizational, skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Must have a good understanding of medical terminology with ability to read, discuss and understand patient medical information
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, particularly telephone
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Must have ability to interact effectively with a variety of people and situations at all levels of the organization.
  • Care Management, Utilization Management, and/or Appeal Management experiences, preferred
  • Certification in Case Management, preferred.
