To achieve our results, we recruit the best and brightest employees who ask, listen and solve to meet our customers' needs Commerce Bank's Capital Markets Group is currently seeking exceptionally qualified candidates for our Fixed Income Sales Associate program in downtown Kansas City. The Sales Associate program will begin with an emphasis on learning the fixed income business prior to joining sales. For the first phase, candidates will participate in comprehensive training program in order to provide them with in-depth experience, ongoing mentorship and targeted training. Candidates will spend time working with our sales, trading and asset liability management teams to learn the skills necessary to speak with portfolio managers at banks and other institutions. Candidates will begin independent cold calling efforts during phase 2 and 3. Upon successful completion of Phase 3 the program, candidates may transition to a fully commissioned sales role. Our environment is collaborative, demanding, fast-paced and entrepreneurial. Candidates must be able to think on their feet and make timely and reasoned decisions. Responsibilities include: ? Become educated on Commerce Bank's products, processes and resources ? Understand technical and marketing components of the sales process ? Develop basic skills in sales and prospecting fixed income clients ? Gain insight on how to build a book of business using your sales and prospecting skills ? Market fixed income products to financial institutions and corporate customers ? Determine specific customer needs and ensure that appropriate market transactions are executed ? Work closely with research and analytics to understand credit/market analysis and value ? Work with trading to maintain or grow P&L and to share ideas for growing business ? Willingness to travel as necessary Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm Education: Bachelor's degree in business-related field with a strong emphasis in Finance, Accounting, Entrepreneurship or Economics Applicants will have: ? 2-3 years previous sales or related work experience strong preferred ? Self-starts with strong professional presence and proven leadership skills ? Excellent analytical skills utilizing financial and accounting principles ? A desire to work in a results-oriented, multi-tasking environment ? Strong communication and interpersonal skills capable of building relationship with people ? Ability to work in a fast-paced environment ? Exposure to entrepreneurship or prior commissioned sales experience preferred ? Emotional intelligence, perseverance, strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail is required ? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) is required ? Bloomberg experience is preferred ? Prior direct sales experience preferred ? The candidate must obtain a Series 52 registration within 180 days of hire.
